Well here we are. People like migrating wildebeests preparing for the nationwide migration to buy a large bird and the rest of the consumables for the “traditional” one day a year family dinner. People are so malleable and easily influenced about things that are largely bogus.
Likewise the intellectually challenged and just plain moralistic bullies---the US version of the Taliban or Ayatollahs--- are on their own migration across time-space. This is especially so across the width and breadth of the South making their way to their own version of Mecca--- Texas red.
Nowhere is this more obvious or egregious (besides the congress)than at the 5th Circuit, where the ruling ayatollahs of the South---the 5th Circuit court of appeals---leads the way back in time to those grand old days of witch hunts, McCarthy, Jim Crow, segregation and back ally abortions that only a “Christian” or some other theocratic nation could possible envision or make possible.
No sooner had a federal judge in Texas ruled that that former slave state’s “new restrictions on abortion are unconstitutional and exposed the fiction that lawmakers in Austin were mainly interested in protecting women’s health” than Torquemada and the Inquisition team on the 5th Circuit reversed the decision.
Anyone willing to see and understand realizes that “In fact, the new law, which was set to take effect Tuesday, was nothing more than a backdoor method of closing abortion clinics.”
See that’s one major difference between conservatives and liberals. It’s called tolerance. The dull of mind, self-serving, control-freaks who call themselves “compassionate conservative ‘Christians’ are anything but. They are the modern day version of those against whom the Christ railed.
The intolerance of today’s religiosity establishment is obvious in just about every segment of our culture. In Texas red this is readily obvious in this “Right to Life” hypocrisy. That’s the right-wing fringe element declaring on the one-hand that “life is precious” and thus abortion should be outlawed and on the other hand food stamps, a living wage, and the opportunity to vote are not.
Of course you can’t leave out the fact that life is so precious that the majority population insists on the racially imbalanced death penalty. In just over a decade Texas red’s Sarah Palin-like governor’s hand has been at the switch when more than 200 convicts have been executed by the collective. In his defense some of them may have been guilty.
Sadly, religiosities vote and their collective efforts put Taliban-like zealots in state and federal office where they bully and foist their will on us all.
From Texas Red: a cratered landscape of for profit prisons, deplorable apartheid public education, lack of healthcare and politicians and majority population intent on keeping it that way…
