Abominable snowman mysteries have been around for years. Now, though, the abominable snowman myths may have been proven to be true. According to a report from late Thursday (Oct. 17), scientists are now claiming that the sightings are actually of bears.
These answers are coming from an Oxford University geneticist who has been working hard to prove its existence. Apparently he found a way to sequence the DNA of the creature, bringing an end to a debate that has raged on for what seems like years and years.
This DNA sequencing was performed on a hair sample found 10 years ago and the jawbone of a mummified animal that had been discovered in the 1970’s. What scientist Bryan Sykes was able to discover is that the samples belonged to an unknown species of bear that could be related to an extinct polar bear.
It isn’t exactly a flashy revelation of what the abominable snowman could actually be, but it does give some answers to a myth that has been around for quite some time. As for explaining how some hunters have come face to face with the creature that some call a Yeti and haven’t been able to identify it, it leads him to believe this particular bear may act differently than others.
Now the next step in this mystery would be to actually capture it on film or to figure out how it survives in the wilderness through such extreme temperatures.
