It’s absolutely amazing when the electorate is aroused and sees how their “elected leaders” have been squandering their tax dollar. The November elections may very well lead to the complete destruction of the Democratic party as President Obama continues to bring it down.
The Department of Energy (DOE) has one of the richest and most diverse histories in the Federal Government. This agency has been in operation for thirty-seven years. It was formed after the oil crisis on August 8, 1977 by President Jimmy Carter's signing of legislation, The Department of Energy Organization Act of 1977 (P.L. 95-91, 91 Stat. 565).
The agency was originally tasked with making sure the United States became energy independent from foreign sources. Currently the DOE provides the framework for a comprehensive and balanced national energy plan by coordinating and administering the energy functions of the federal government.
Does it really? What about drilling off the US coast and locations in the US known to have rich oil fields? What has been done about nuclear power, windmill energy and solar? The Department of Energy has done a great job of creating jobs in China and India.
The Department undertook responsibility for long-term, high-risk research and development of energy technology, federal power marketing, energy conservation, the nuclear weapons program, energy regulatory programs, and a central energy data collection and analysis program.
Suffice to say as in the case with the vast majority of programs put in place during LBJ’s and Jimmy Carter’s tenure they failed to accomplish their goal. Today we are more dependent on OPEC and our “enemies” than in any time in recent history.
There is absolutely nothing this inefficient department has done to meet its original goals.
Currently, the United States Secretary of Energy oversees a budget of approximately $23 billion and more than 100,000 federal and contract employees. Its original budget was $9444 million in 1980. Figures on the number of initial employees remain allusive. In May of 2001 the agency had 14,000 employees.
These are the goals they set for 1985: Reduce the annual growth rate in our energy demand to less than two percent. Well now that didn’t really happen.
The US is fortunate to have Carol Browner a socialist, a leader of the Commission for Sustainable World Society leaving the administration.
During 1993 the total US expenditures for energy R&D (which includes industry, DOE, and all other federal agencies) were about $5.5 billion. Of that, about $3 billion was spent by industry and about $2.4 billion by DOE.
--Reduce gasoline consumption by ten percent below its current level.
--Cut in half the portion of United States oil, which is imported, from a potential level of 16 million barrels to six million barrels a day.
--Establish a strategic petroleum reserve of one billion barrels, more than six months' supply.
--Increase our coal production by about two thirds to more than 1 billion tons a year.
--Insulate 90 percent of American homes and all new buildings.
--Use solar energy in more than two and one-half million houses
The mission and functions of the Department of Energy is to provide advice and assistance to the Secretary of Energy and other senior managers to ensure that information technology is acquired and information resources are managed in a manner that implements the policies and procedures of legislation, including the Paperwork Reduction Act and the Clinger-Cohen Act; and the priorities established by the Secretary.
It coordinates and articulates a shared vision and corporate perspective among the Department's information activities and champions Departmental initiatives to effectively manage information and to provide for corporate systems that add value to the businesses of the Department. When combined with its additional tasks this is just another federal government department that must be abolished.
No thanks President Obama for trying to put the US into further economic and security risks. Remember, “Blame Bush.”
Since the current president believes he can get around congress buy using the EPA to enforce its delusions about C02 and global warming, the House bills prohibit any funding for climate change regulations.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it, I’m J.C.

Keep these great posts going Jim my friend!!!!
Thanks Cathy it ain't over until it's over. In January 2013 we celebrate and I take a break, LOL Jim
I believe that all 'alphabet agencies' should be abolished...Starting with the FBI, DEA, ICE..Most noteably the EPA, DOE, IAEC..And the list goes on ad nauseum ........Every one of these 'departments' is an Obamunism to OUR libeties...Unelected officials side-stepping the Constitution at the whims of some politboro, that I wouldn't put in charge of an ant farm much less portions of OUR country..If OUR elected public servants can't do the job then thy need to pack up their tents and go home and make room for some body that can and will do the job the poeple sent them to the D.istrict of C.ommuno-ville to do..
Most companies are very responsible when it comes to taking care of the business they know better than D.C. and to make every body pay for the sins of a few is just ludicrous.....If an agency was to be started why not the Department of Stupidity, then all the Obamunists could play a role in it.....An especially OUR elected public servants from Kansas..These people don't act like stupidity was a virtue..They've got it down to a bloody science........
As a truck driver, I would welcome the EPA going bye bye.
Seems the voters in CA just aren't as smart as you Chris. By a two to one margin they voted for the EPA to screw with us, thank God for Republicans and November they are going to see their funds completely gutted. J.c.
This is just one that need to go!! A government needs to go and let the states control and the people. It has plainly seen the government does what it wants and if we the people don't like they make it a law. Enough is enough. Put the American to work!! The unions are in the other countries and giving the jobs to them sa they can bankrupt America so we become dependent like slaves, Throw me some bread and water please! NO!!!
You will get no argument here Renee. Those that chose to will be summarily pistol whipped with facts. Thanks for the comments, J.C.
I remember the speech that clow Carter made when he formed this totally impotent organization. The American people need to stop this madness!
That's why we had the November elections. This department along with the EPA are going to have not much money to play their game. it's over.
WHAT in God's good name do 14,000 employees (May 2001 numbers...where does it stand today) DO? This boggles the mind and places it on the chopping block ahead of the Dept of Ed. Ed and Energy Departments need a good forensic accounting...then they need to be abolished or at the very least, greatly reduced in size and scope. As you point oput the Dept of Ed has been nothing but a huge sorry a**ed mistake...
Especially if you go back and listen to the you tube with Mark Levine talking with an employee of the Department of Energy. They have never produced energy along with the interior department they have made it all but impossible. These blood suckers are completely done in 2012.
I would say that the Dept. of Energy was a useless bureacracy when it was established and has gone downhill sense. You would think that in 36 years the dependence on foreign oil would have been lessened instead of increased. We are nearing a point in which gasoline will hit $5/gal because China and other rapidly industrial growing countries will get first dibs at the oil. The US is no longer able to dictate terms as we once were as the largest consumer of foreign oil. Personally, I would like the Dept. of [Lack of] Energy die off and the States be granted the opportunities to explore their respective states for oil such as in ANWR (Alaska) and other heavy oil deposit areas of the US. The off shore possibilities are also a significant amount of oil reserves that must be tapped albeit with safe, environmental and rapid response procedures in-place. Then and only then will the US become less dependent on foreign oil. Clean nuclear power is another option. Solar and wind power are aways off and again let the States and Technology be free of federal government restraints and regulations.
They have never created energy just made it all but impossible for Americans to do so. You have to laugh when you hear a tard talking about cutting the subsidies to the oil companies. They are the only ones really producing energy along with coal. It's time for a whole lot of ass kicking to be going on. J.C.
Another Carter-originating FIASCO! The legacy of this Carter Islamofascist trilateral commissioner is a dirty, filthy legacy...that's for SURE! Pres. Reagan was disgusted with Carter's "infra-structure of chains", as he called Carter's absurd structures. Dr. Gary K
Carter would have done much better if he spent all of his time as President "lusting in his heart" and not screwing up the country.
The DoE is a departmental parasite.
Less we forget some parasites have a positive effect. I like to think of most government programs as metastatic tumors. Of no value and plenty of harm.
Thanks Jim!
Hi Jim:
They won't let us go nuclear, which is clean and safe. I do think that the states should decide on anything not in the 17 powers.
The government has gone too far over. Education is not in the 17 powers, energy is not, entitlements are not. S...hould I go on? No. We all know this.
Keep up the great work.
Thanks Lisa, I agree, cut loose the programs that are jokes. This one produces no energy just makes it almost impossible for the U.S. to do so, like the Dept of Education. It should be called the department of illiteracy.
I WANT THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF OUR LIVES. THEY SHOULD ONLY DO WHAT THE CONSTITUTION ALLOWS
But how could we live without them? My God man what are you thinking. Who will take care of everybody and pay for everything??
Another Carter-originating FIASCO! The legacy of this Carter Islamofascist trilateral commissioner is a dirty, filthy legacy...that's for SURE! Pres. Reagan was disgusted with Carter's "infra-structure of chains", as he called Carter's absurd structures. Dr. Gary K
If it was originated during LBJ's term or Carter's it has to suck.
Shut it down along with dept.of EDU,IRS,HHS and fire Janet hippo.Ah hell fire the whole lot of obama appointees. They all are a bunch of crooks.
What have firing squads fallen by the wayside? Send them to Iran.
Sure, Abolish he Department of Energy. Turn it all over to BP. What could go wrong?
.
You Gil you have no clue what you are talking about. THE BP situation was all Obama's responsibility according to the Clean Water Act passed after the Exxon Valdeze. It was his responsibility and his alone as in the President "shall" command all forces state and local to stop the leak.
What did your boy do? Vacation, golfing, he didn't have anything going but was dead set on fixing blame rather that stopping the leak.
Why and consequences can you explain one thing the federal government does better than the private sector? Didn't thinks so. Had the government been out of the way, it would have been fixed pronto.
Remember the chosen one's refusal to allow foreign ships with oil sucking capacity to get involved. Obama is not fit for command, he couldn't motivate a starving dog to eat red meat. No Cathy He's not grumpy just another useless lemming that will one day follow Al Whore into the rising tides.
AMEN Jim! This man I BELIEVE thinks he's Mr. GOOGLE!!!!
You've got that right Jim! I'm just
I was always taught to be kind to animals, donkey's are a stubborn breed. :-D
It's completely surreal here in Israel...with gas at $8/gallon and Carter STILL gallivanting around the region, advising Hamas and all the other Islamofascists on how to use their licenses to kill Jews and Christians...Carter is a War Criminal, and his advice to Arafat at Camp David 2000 is still operational. Dr K
You must no by now Doc Carter is Obama's mamma.
If an agency doesn't "Protect and Defend" the Constitution, then it should GO! After all, don't they swear to uphold just that? But if the Libs want to go for big government programs, I say let them. They can organize it, pay for it and use it to regulate and extort from themselves. Stay out of our wallets, our churches, our homes, and especially out of our minds(as in political correctness) and we'll promise to stay out of your perverted bedrooms, so Just bug off!
The only way that will happen would be with a complete one year of the entire population not paying taxes. The other opportunity is for the Republicans to shut the government completely down. People will quickly see that the beat will still go on. We have been buying this nonsense since the late 60's it's over.
It should be called the Dept of no Energy, because it has not produced one drop of oil.
Note the Mark Levine video included and the change in title. J.C.
Congress should defund the DOE and the EPA. They're nothing but dead weight. We could save billions if we drill here. We'll have to anyway when the dollar won't buy oil anymore.
I'm hearing a big "drill baby drill" can you imagine if Sara would have run heads up against Obama and won? The US would be respected, all this BS would be getting gutted at warp speed. Never underestimate the ignorance and lack of education of the American electorate. That's what public schools are for, turning our lemmings with little in the way of critical thinking skills, J.C.
Yes,redirect tax dollars somewhere else, unless they can get rid of big business passing the cost to us,and giving it back to them instead of high bonuses!regulatory?of what?oil, corn, coal, air?gas!sunlight?,no!.
It's a joke isn't it Gregory. We have the highest corporate income tax in the world. Do corporations pay it? Nope they just build it into the cost of things we purchase. Time to cut it to zero bring companies back that have meaningful jobs.
Like everything else The Federal Government does it feasts on tax dollars like a veracious animal and little else~!
Jimmy Carter promised Energy Independence From Foreign Oil back in 1976 and
Jimmy turned my dad into a Republican, he told all the folks at either North American Aviation or possibly it was Rockwell International that he would keep the B1 Bomber. First order of business he scuttled it wasting billions of dollars. Those put in service have served the country well in bombing runs in Afghanistan and Iraq. Carter has always been a lying fool.
Well you, it's long past time Jim....did you hear the day Mark Levin talked to a lib who worked for the D of E? Let me find it so we can laugh hysterically again! I'll read your article of course.
Thanks I added it as the video for this article, great loved it. J.C.
I am so glad you wrote about this! Another carter brainiac idea! Why didn't Reagan shut it down? This is was of the top 3 huge departments that are 100% useless and a huge waste of tax payer money, not to mention their ridiculous agendas!
Imagine the billions we would save it they were shut down. Who has the guts to do it? NO ONE tragically!
Not to worry Isis there is a new congress in town defunding things daily, in 2012 we take the presidency back, no veto, game over. Bye Bye progressives.
Reagan wanted to reverse many of Carter's treasonous monstrosities, but the Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988) created
a whole new level of headaches, complete with Saudi extortion and pressure. Carter's arabist age was upon us. Dr Gary K
Next time the senile dope violates the Logan act he should not be let back into our country.
it wouldnt bother me a bit if we abolished the DOE,for they have been sleeping with the EPA for years.Drilling in the gulf should be full steam right now,,as we are ever more dependant on middle east oil,,whats next buying oil from russia,,and its crooks,,lol..hell we probably do today...THIS COUNTRY NEEDS TO BE RESTRUCTURED COMPLETELY. JUST wish we had more jim campbells around to so we could levy change.///THX AGAIN MR. CAMPBELL for a wonderful article.
Thanks my friend for the complement. We must get one thing straight it's the department of NO ENERGY. They have never created a drop.
