Abigail Breslin's appearance has changed dramatically since she played the awkward, bespectacled, beauty-pageant contestant Olive Hoover in the 2006 comedy film "Little Miss Sunshine." (Breslin earned an Oscar nomination for her supporting role in "Little Miss Sunshine.") Breslin (who is now 17) has outgrown the innocent, pre-teen look for platinum-blonde hair and adult makeup.
In an E! News article published on Sept. 11, 2013, Breslin said that her new image has caused many people to no longer recognize her, including her co-stars in "August: Osage County." Breslin told E! News at the movie's world premiere at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival: "The cast doesn't recognize me! I was like ‘Hey guys!' and they were like, ‘Who's this random girl crashing our photo shoot today?' This girl was like, 'Oh my gosh, that's Abigail Breslin,' and her friend was like, 'No it's not, it looks nothing like her!'"
"August: Osage County" is set for release in the U.S. and Canada on Dec. 25, 2013. The movie (which is based on the award-winning play of the same name) is getting a lot of Oscar buzz.
Breslin's other movies released in 2013 include the kidnapping thriller "The Call" (now available on on demand, DVD, Blu-ray and digital download); the horror movie "Haunter" (which is set for a limited release in the U.S. and Canadian cinemas on Oct. 28, 2013); and the sci-fi flick "Ender's Game" (which is due out in the U.S. and Canada on Nov. 1, 2013).
