Update: *"Suburgatory" and "Super Fun Night" have been canceled.*
On Friday, Spoiler TV reports that ABC’s science fiction sitcom, ‘The Neighbors’ has been canceled. This comes after several reports by the source that the show continues to land on the danger zone in ratings. Below are other cancelations by the network, renewals, and what will be filling the empty slots.
“Trophy Wife” and “Mixology” have also been given the boot. Both were freshman comedies that never seem to have taken off. While the network has not officially sent out a statement, stars of the show have taken it to Twitter to break the news, TV Line reports.
In other ABC network news, Deadline reports that the comedy ‘The Middle’ has been renewed for Season 6. Also reported to be returning are “The Goldbergs” and “Modern Family,” which have long been a hit.
To make up for the now empty time-slots, ABC has picked up “Marvel’s Agent Carter,” as well as renewed “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” According to the source, “Agent Carter” already has a prototype, it will be inspired by Marvel’s One-Shot “Agent Carter.” The series will star Hayley Atwell (‘Captain America’s Peggy Carter).
While it will be interesting to see what became of Peggy’s life after losing Steve Rogers, I can’t imagine this show being too interesting. I hope Marvel and ABC have something awesome planned out. Deadline describes the show as “It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad.” Peggy will be balancing administrative work while doing secret missions for Howard Stark. Now that part might be cool, I do hope we get to see a lot of Tony Stark’s father, Howard.
Other shows currently awaiting to hear if they will be canceled or renewed are: “Last Man Standing,” “Nashville,” “Suburgatory,” and “Super Fun Night.”
