For the past several months, most of us have enjoyed coming up with fun and creative nicknames for John Locke's "man in black" reincarnation on ABC's "Lost;" take "Dark Locke," "UnLocke," or "The Locke-ness Monster," to name a few. Now, the man behind the character would like to throw another name at us: "Smokey."
In addition to coining a new moniker for Jacob's arch-enemy, Terry O'Quinn also chatted with Entertainment Weekly about what it's like to play such a drastically different character:
"It’s fun to play. I mean, it’s just totally different from whatever John Locke was. Bad guys have better secrets. And if he’s a bad guy, he’s got a lot of secrets. And that’s what frustrates people. When [Sawyer] says, “What are you?” and Smokey says, “What I am is trapped,” okay—you don’t pursue that question. Everybody else will go, “Well, what the hell does that mean? Who are you? Come on, man!” But we’re going to have to wait until another week to find that out."

No one calls the smoke monster "smokey". That's dumb.
jk1234 - The smoke monster has not been called smokey through the seasons, I've watched every episode multiple times, it's never happened, duuuuuude.
John Locke was my favorite character, I even used to dream about LOST. Anyways, as I re-watch the seasons, (seen them many times) it always gets me in I believe season 5, when Jack has to put his fathers shoes on John Locke's corpse. Is this just a 1 episode thing or was that much more important? Anyways also Upon re-watching s6 many times, I realize the episode with young Jacob and young Jacobs brother reveals a lot more than I originally thought. Still chewing on the ending do we see any of what happens to smoke monster when it dies or has removing the stone in the light made him vulnerable to die , of course after this is when john locke wakes up from the surgery that jack wants to perform on him to make him walk again, if I remember correctly.
