ABC's 'Dancing with the Stars' 2010: Shannen voted off, Pamela in the bottom two, Kate safe?

Shannen Doherty was voted off of ABC's 'Dancing with the Stars' this evening. Quite a shocker considering Shannen ranked at number seven on the Dancing with the Stars leader board. This is one of those situations where a large fan base comes into play. Viewer votes can save a celebrity contestant from being booted off. Sadly, Shannen Doherty did not have a huge fan base.

Had Shannen Doherty received enough votes to continue competing on ABC's 'Dancing with the Stars', she would have had a partner change. Mark Ballas sustained an injury during rehearsal which would have pulled him from the competition for six weeks. Mark's dad would have stepped up to the plate and taken Mark's place as Shannen's instructor and partner. This partner switch did not come about. Shannen Doherty was voted off of Dancing with the Stars.

ABC's 'Dancing with the Stars' delivered another shocker. Pamela Anderson received so few votes from the fans at home, that she was one of the two Dancing with the Stars contestants to receive the lowest overall score total. Pamela ranked number four on the Dancing with the Stars leader board, with a total of 43 points awarded by the judges. "OMG, We're in the bottom two?", was Pamela's stunned reaction.

Kate Gosselin was announced as safe. That information came as a surprise, considering the fact that she has not been a favorite Dancing with the Stars contestant since the 2010 celebrity lineup was announced. Many die hard fans have expressed their displeasure at her even being allowed to compete on ABC's 'Dancing with the Stars'.

Kate was ranked at number nine, one spot above last place, on the Dancing with the Stars leader board with a score of 31 points being awarded by the judges. Are we to believe that Kate Gosselin has a fan base larger than Pamela Anderson? Kate Gosselin was not in the bottom two. Pamela Anderson and Shannen Doherty were. Kate Gosselin was not voted off of ABC's 'Dancing with the Stars', Shannen Doherty was.

It is a shame when popularity can supersede talent.
