ABC reveals new details about the return of ‘Shark Tank’

The sharks are returning for a third season and ABC just released new details about the premiere of its critically acclaimed Shark Tank, which sheds light on America’s most ingenious inventors. Each season, Shark Tank offers budding entrepreneurs the opportunity of a lifetime by offering business deals that could make them overnight millionaires. In season three, the sharks give away $6.2 million of their own money to bankroll a wide array of products and services.

In the season premiere of Shark Tank, NBA champion and Hall of Fame basketball player Bill Walton joins entrepreneur Dave Mayer in his pitch to the sharks. Mayer, a tri-athlete from Portola Valley, California, hopes the sharks will have a thirst for his unique water bottle. If the Sharks should need a ghostwriter, then Michael Levin from Irvine, California would welcome their investment dollars in his celebrity ghostwriting business. Other pitches include an online business created by Sue Kruskopf & Nancy Bush from Minneapolis, Minnesota, that can help people plan their own funeral, down to the last detail. In the end, Alashe Nelson from Miami Beach, Florida presents a business opportunity to invest in a site offering users real VIP access at some of the hottest nightlife events in the country.

Shark Tank also updates viewers on Jason Lucash and Michael Szymczak, who appeared in season two to push their customized speakers known as Origaudio. Since appearing on the show, their business has taken off and become a successful model for others to follow.

The following judges, also known as “sharks” will appear in the third season of Shark Tank:

  • Mark Cuban: Owner and chairman of HDNet and outspoken owner of the 2011 NBA champions, the Dallas Mavericks.
  • Lori Greiner: A prolific inventor of retail products who’s often regarded as the “Queen of QVC.”
  • Barbara Corcoran: Real estate mogul
  • Robert Herjavec: Technology inventor
  • Daymond John: Fashion and branding expert
  • Kevin O’Leary: Venture capitalist

The panel of five Sharks will hear pitches of the best business and product ideas from some of America’s brightest entrepreneurs. When the Sharks hear a great idea, they’re ready to fight each other for a piece of it. If and when the Sharks are confronted with a really top-notch idea, and more than one of them wants to sink their teeth into it, a war between them can erupt.

The third season of Shark Tank premieres on Friday, January 20th at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
