The alphabet network made some very decisive and early cancellations earlier this season. It even had the first cut of the season, cancelling Lucky 7 after just two episodes, but other shows have been left on the bubble for quite some time. The network has come off the fence about at least two freshmen comedies. Freshmen comedies Trophy Wife and Mixology have both been axed, as per TV Line. This can come as no real surprise since, according to Variety, ABC ordered a whopping five new dramas and four new comedies.
Trophy Wife starred Bradley Whitford, Malin Akerman, Marcia Gay Harden and Michaela Watkins as it followed a newly married couple cope with his two ex-wives and their blended families. Mixology told the story of one night at a bar. Considering how annoyed some people got over the idea that the last season of 'How I Met Your Mother' (and never mind how the series actually ended) took place over the course of a whole weekend with characters they knew and loved, well, the audience never seemed to come together enough to give the series a chance.
Still waiting for news are Nashville, Suburgatory, Last Man Standing, The Neighbors and Super Fun Night. The first three might have a better chance than aliens in New Jersey The Neighbors, which peppered its season and possibly series finale with cancellation jokes, and Rebel Wilson's Super Fun Night, which started off with a lot of buzz but never seemed to deliver and had its finale earlier this year.
*UPDATE* TV Line reports The Neighbors has also been cancelled.
