The Drudge Report is leading with a story about ABC News' plan to air its June 24th evening news broadcast from the Blue Room of the White House. Charlie Gibson's news-reading stint will be followed by a primetime special on the Obama health care plan, with no opposing views presented.
What genius at ABC News came up with this idea? The program will be a town hall format featuring President Obama. In the absence of opposing views however, the prime time special will be nothing more than a cost-free infomercial for the Obama Administration. And, consider the locus. Why broadcast from the White House? Consider the impression this broadcast event will leave with many viewers. How do ABC News executives distinguish this cozy arrangement with the Obama Administration from official state-run media operations of say, Iran and North Korea?
ABC could have at least tried to maintain the facade of impartiality by simply using its own studios for the broadcast. But why bother hiding the by now obvious fact that the nation's mainstream media outlets are simply cheerleaders for the Obama Administration?
As I noted in an earlier post, a compliant and servile mainstream media has become one of the pillars of the Obama Presidency. Should the prime-time health care special go forward as planned — emanating from the Blue Room — the indelible perception created, the content of the broadcast notwithstanding, will be that one of the nation's big three networks has subjugated itself to the White House. With its broadcast, ABC News will then signal ominously that the bastardization of the mainstream media is complete.

The reason this "town hall meeting" is being held on the 24th, is that it will take some time to sow the potted plants, time to grow them (coach them), so Lord 0bama can harvest only the talking points he wants to answer.
Traditional media outlets have been the Fourth Branch of Government for a long time, and I don't expect that to ever change, until they are permanently out of business.
Does anyone recognize our country anymore or are we all asleep? There was a day any self respecting reporter would have driven a truck through all the holes in this healthcare sham. Our political class has placed revenue, control and political self-preservation over the health and well being of the American people. We are simply cash cows to them. If the press was doing even a sophomoric job, Americans would be outraged. Instead they have become state run media - willingly and enthusiastically.

PLEASE, if you have not seen John Ziegler's expose on the Media during the Obama election you need to SEE IT NOW! We can not allow the continuation of the mainstream media portaying itself as 'news reporting'. They have all been bought and the only way we can respond is to cease support for them and there sponsers, NOW!
This sell-out and disregard for journalistic integrity just reinforces the fact that's it's time to call for a boycott of ABC.
ABC should be ashamed of themselves. They openly admit every aspect of the broadcast is biased and controlled complete with handpicked questioners from the audiance is pretty crass in itself. I think it's totally disgusting. This viewer will definately NOT watch it.

ABC News isn't ashamed, because they have no shame. This infomercial, even by their perverse journalistic "standards", may indeed prove to be a bridge too far for a lot of news consumers.

If you don't agree with ABC then, boycott, boycott, boycott ABC news programs - GMA, Nightly News, prime time specials, 20/20, NightLine, ABC news web. They will panic when program sponsors cancel because people are complaining about ABC news programs. Call ABC's complaint/comment phone line and let them know you are disgusted with their liberal one-sided news programs. 53% of voters voted for this "change!" and all of us are stuck with it. So if you don't approve of this "change" then, "change the channel next Wed. 6/24 and watch another network, or help stimulate the economy and go to a restaurant for dinner. Don't watch ABC news!!! You still have the right to freedom of choice and DON'T tune in to ABC news programs.

Can you say "Conflict of Interest?". Wow! So blatantly in your face America! Welcome to Socialism. You know the old saying "Life is what happens when your not looking." Got a new one for you "Obama is what happens when you are not looking!" He was the most far left Senator in DC and this is a shock? Its not what I say, its what I do that ring a bell? My boyfriend said he will fail because all others have failed in the past that have tried to make this country a socialist country, it takes to much time and we would see it coming! WELL! Obama must of gotten that memo as well, he isn't moving slow and he has no time to cover and the sad truth is the numbers in this country that still don't see it even though it is in there face like this on a daily basis. Can that many people really want the Government to take care of Healthcare? I mean, they have done such an awesome job with our Schools, Social Security etc. Why not? Its not about doing great things for us, its about control.

I didn't vote for Obama, yet I'm having to pay the price b/c of those who did. How can they say that color didn't matter, when more than 90% of the blacks voted for Obama. Had 90% of whites voted for McCain, we would have been called racists. So, what do we call the 90% who voted FOR Obama? It's interesting that he's called the first black President, when in fact, he's just a plain-ole half-breed. Media down-played this, of course. Had white been his dominant skin color, he wouldn't have been called the first black president. In fact, he wouldn't have been called president at all. And, here's our media backing him yet again. Boycott ABC! ! !
I believe the ABC coverage will be honest and balanced.
I also believe that it will snow today in Atlanta.
