ABC benches 'Zero Hour' after 3 episodes

On Friday, ABC announced that it was pulling its low-rated midseason drama “Zero Hour” from the schedule effectively immediately. Starting next week, encore episodes of “Shark Tank” will air in its place until “Wife Swap” takes over on March 21.

The network has not had much luck with the competitive Thursday timeslot. Its previous occupant “Last Resort” was canceled, but the network ran all 13 episodes that had been originally ordered. Only three episodes of “Zero Hour” have aired and the most recent outing only had 5 million viewers, despite the fact that most of the other networks were airing reruns.

Zero Hour” starred Anthony Edwards, Jacinda Barrett, Scott Michael Foster, Addison Timlin, Carmen Ejogo and Michael Nyqvist. The show revolved around a bizarre twist of fate that pulled a man who’d spent 20 years as the editor of a skeptics’ magazine into a compelling conspiracy.

No decision has been made at this time as to when or if ABC will air the remaining episodes.
