Jet is a two year old black Labrador that was abandoned in the dark alleys of Istanbul. Unfortunately, his sweet temper was a disadvantage because not knowing how to survive on the street by himself, he was brutally attacked by a pack of stray dogs recently. Jet could have slowly died on the streets, where the pack took almost 1/5 of his skin. Unable to move and vulnerable to danger, he waited until someone came to his rescue. Luckily, he was protected by another dog; a female golden Labrador mix that has been named ‘’Jasper.’’ Thanks to her, Jet survived the vicious attack.
Jet was even more fortunate, because a kind person found him and he was taken to He’Art of Rescue, who sprang into action to save him. The sad reality is that Jet waited for a full 24 hours before someone was able to rescue him. His wounds are grave because without medical care for that time, his wounds became abscessed and got infected. He’Art of Rescue is considering skin grafting to deal with the damage done. Check out photos of Jet in the slideshow and look into the eyes of this sweet dog in the video link below.
He’Art of Rescue is located in Istanbul, Turkey. They are an independent initiative started for animals in critical conditions. They were formed at the end of 2011 when they repeatedly encountered stray animals in horrible conditions. The need for building a website and a blog to reach people who could be supportive took them to a point where they are happy to see that they are not all alone but helped by few but generous and passionate friends worldwide. They chose to make handicapped and congenitally sick animals their priority, mostly because Turkey is a pretty unlucky one for them. Having records of thousands of healthy pets dumped per year, animals like these with special needs do not stand an easy chance of being adopted.
