Rumors of his involvement swirled as early as this year, though nothing was confirmed. The news comes after Samuel L. Jackson let slip that Elizabeth Olsen has signed on for the sequel.
Taylor-Johnson and Olsen will be playing brother-sister duo Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in the superhero flick.
Taylor-Johnson is best known for Kick-Ass, reprising his role as the vigilante earlier this year for the sequel, Kick-Ass 2.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron reunites Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Chris Hemsworth, as the Avengers, as well as Samuel L. Jackson as their leader Nick Fury. Tom Hiddleston’s Loki will sit this one out, confirming that he will not return for the sequel at this year's Comic Con.
Not much has been said about the sequel’s plot, though Taylor-Johnson and Olsen will star alongside James Spader who joined the cast this summer and will portray Ultron, the supervillian breaking havoc this time around.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron opens everywhere May 1, 2015.
