The Southwest Missouri Autism Network (SWAN) will be hosting Aaron Likens 3:30-5:30 June 14th at The Arc of the Ozarks on 1501 East Pythian Street in Springfield, MO. Aaron was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome at age 20. The information he found about Asperger Syndrome sent him into a deep depression but has now overcome and wants to help others understand the autism spectrum. He has written the book Finding Kansas in hopes of helping people come to really know the person with Asperger Syndrome. Aaron is also the Autism Ambassador for Easter Seals Midwest.

SWAN is a parent support group with a relaxed and positive atmosphere. There are no membership dues or prerequisites for attending. Each month they discuss different topics relating to parenting and caring for children and loved ones on the spectrum. A pool and gym are available to children accompanied by a caregiver or family member while parents attend the meeting. They meet the second Saturday of every month on the Timothy Newport Campus at 1501 E. Pythian Street in Springfield, MO from 3:30-5:30.

Parents and guest will be able to meet an awesome person in Aaron and also be given time to ask questions in a relaxed, informal setting. This will be an excellent opportunity to become more familiar with the autism spectrum and to meet a true overcomer!
