Aaron Hernandez’s girlfriend was indicted on a perjury charge as a result of the investigation into the murder of Odin Lloyd. The former New England Patriot star has pleaded not guilty to murder charges and is being held without bail.
The New York Post reported that a grand jury indicted Shayanna Jenkins, Hernandez’s girlfriend for a single count of perjury in the investigation into the murder of Odin Lloyd. Hernandez’s cousin, Tanya Singleton was also indicted on a charge of conspiracy to commit accessory after the fact.
In addition to the women, one of Hernandez’s associates, Carlos Ortiz was indicted on an accessory to murder charge. Ernest Wallace was indicted on a charge of accessory to murder after the fact. Wallace has pleaded not guilty and is being held on a $500,000 bail.
Odin Lloyd was discovered shot to death in the town of North Attleborough, Mass, on June 17. Prosecutors believe that Ortiz and Wallace were both with Aaron Hernandez the night Lloyd was killed.
Prior to Jenkins being indicted, law enforcement authorities claim that she “made overt attempts to hide evidence, render assistance for suspect to elude law enforcement and to hinder and mislead.”
