Aaron Hernandez - former New England Patriots’ football player who is currently awaiting his trial after being charged with first-degree murder – has now been named as a suspect in another murder case, according to Sports Illustrated on Wednesday.

The football player has been named as a suspect in a double murder that occurred in Boston in 2012. Via a search warrant in the case, authorities suspect Hernandez was occupying an SUV that circled a block while waiting for the victims of the murder to enter their own vehicle before the 2 a.m. drive-by shooting occurred. Reportedly, five or six gun shots were fired from the SUV into another vehicle. In the incident, Safiro Furtado and Daniel Abreu were killed while another occupant of the victims’ vehicle was injured.

This deadly incident occurred about a year prior to the death of Odin Lloyd, the murder case of which Hernandez stands accused. Hernandez was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in Lloyd’s death in June of 2013. The Patriots released Hernandez quickly after his being arrested and taken into custody.
