Former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez won't be leaving jail in the near future, according to a report from ABC News.
Hernandez is due back in court on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013 in the afternoon. ABC News reports that it is expect the former NFL star will be officially charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd during court hearing in Attleboro, MA.
Hernandez has been held in the Bristol County House of Correction since the end of June. He appeared in court last month, but his probable cause hearing was rescheduled for Aug. 22, 2013 at the request of prosecutors.
If ABC's sources are correct, today's hearing will turn into an official arraignment for Hernandez for the June 17 murder of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd.
Without an indictment today, Aaron Hernandez's lawyers would be able to argue for his release from jail.
Hernandez was arrested on June 26 at his home in North Attleboro, MA. He has been held without bail in a solitary cell since that date.
If an indictment is handed down this afternoon, his lawyers won't have a chance to argue his case until Hernandez's criminal trial.
In addition to the murder of Odin Lloyd, authorities are also connecting Hernandez to a murder that happened in 2012.
NFL News Report states that information about a gun found in a traffic accident is now being linked to the Hernandez.
The gun was and “several rounds of ammunition” were found during a search of a vehicle involved in a June 21 vehicle accident in Springfield, MA.
This weapon police have been searching for that they believe was used to murder Odin Lloyd has not been found, unless authorities are holding back on that evidence to use in today's possible indictment.
