Sadly, today marks the 9th anniversary of the passing of R&B princess Aaliyah. As recalled, Aaliyah died a tragic death while returning from Bahamas, where she shot her video for her hit, "Rock the Boat". The world mourned and many fans are still mourning.

Aaliyah has left a lasting impression on the world with her grace and talent.

At the age of 12, the singer/actress brought her smooth and angelic presence to the R&B and Hip Hop scene when she was signed by Jive. Working with R. Kelly, she went on to release her first album, "Age Ain't Nothing but a Number". It didn't take long for the world to fall in love with her innocent beauty and her unique voice. The album rose to double platinum status, selling over 3 million copies.

My personal homage to the late star:

I may have been a bit behind, but my very first compact disk (cd) was Aaliyah's  "Age Ain't Nothing but a Number ". I remember playing the cd repeatedly, with "Back and Forth" being one of my favorite tracks. Though Aaliyah had some sex appeal, as she is known for often exposing her midriff in her videos, she was unique in her style and was always careful not to portray an overly sexual image. She was an immeasurable talent whose death brought me to flowing tears. Aaliyah will always be one of my favorite artists!!

We miss you Aaliyah; may you continue to rest in heavenly peace!! http://aaliyah.com/

Enjoy this trip down memory lane with the following video: "Back and Forth".

I remember that day like it was yesterday! Was sitting in the airport coming back from Maryland. I opened the paper and there it was--it hit me like a ton of bricks. I miss her so! :(
