If you get drunk in New England on New Year's Eve ringing in 2012 and you are looking for a free ride home from AAA's Tipsy Tow service, call a cab. The Southern New England division of AAA is not offering Tipsy Tow service this year, much to the confusion of many who are hoping to hitch a ride after a few celebratory drinks this weekend.
On major holidays like New Year's Eve, AAA typically offers their free Tipsy Tow service that provides a free ride home if you are too drunk to drive. The program became popular in so many states, including Rhode Island, that the company is stopping it in many regions across the country. It is likely that AAA didn't realize how many people would take advantage of this possibly life-saving deal that has spread like wildfire in the media. The only states that are possibly offering the service from 6pm Saturday, December 31, 2011 'til 6am on Sunday, January 1, 2012 are Hawaii, Texas, New Mexico, Alabama and California.
