AAA Great Vacations EXPO coming soon to Columbus, Ohio!

It’s almost that time of year again! Time for the fourth annual AAA Great Vacations EXPO in nearby Columbus, Ohio taking place January 20-22. An easy drive from Cincinnati takes you to one of the best travel shows in the country. Here you can find many opportunities to plan a dream family vacation for 2012 with destinations to choose from both near and far.

From booking your trip at low prices, to getting your passport photo taken, our friends at Weirick Communications provided these great tips on what you can do at and look for at the EXPO:

Set Sail for the Lake Erie Shore and Islands area at the show. This fun-filled beach environment boasts loads of interactive features that bring the unique Lake Erie Shores & Islands experience to life.

EXPO guests age 55 or older will want to visit on Friday, January 20 for Prime Timers Day, presented by Hoosier Park Racing & Casino and Senior Times. Seniors enjoy a generous $2 off both general and AAA rate admission. Plus, we'll have giveaways and a stage packed with special programming targeting your favorite destinations and interests.

Kids Day is Saturday, January 21 where parents and kids will experience an incredible line-up of activities, events and workshops designed specifically for parents and kids.

Also on Kids Day, everyone’s favorite Nickelodeon star, SpongeBob SquarePants will be at the EXPO the entire day, so guests can meet him and pose for pictures.

The Farm at Walnut Creek, from Ohio’s celebrated Amish Country, is bringing a long list of exotic and interesting animals to visit on Saturday, January 21. EXPO guests will love meeting Kayode, the farm’s two-year-old junior giraffe, along with a baby Grevy Zebra, dromedary Camel, Ring-Tailed Lemur, African Crested Porcupine and a McCaw and other unique birds and animals.

Acclaimed adventure guide Vesna Tyrell will appear on the AAA Travel Stage at the EXPO on Saturday, January 21. A guide in the Great Smoky Mountains for more than a decade through her company, A Walk in the Woods, Tyrell will show parents how to introduce kids to nature and the national parks.

Don’t forget that Bert Kreischer, the thrill-seeker and host of Travel Channel’s popular Bert the Conqueror, will share his adventurous travel experiences of living like a local with AAA Great Vacations EXPO guests on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Noon and 2:30 p.m.
