It is time to get out of the Central Ohio winter weather blues and start planning next year’s family travel adventures at the AAA Great Vacations EXPO. The 2011 AAA Great Vacations EXPO will be held Friday, January 21 through Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Franklin County Veterans Memorial in downtown Columbus. As with past shows, the 2011 EXPO has an array of family friendly activities and entertainment scheduled throughout the event. It’s a great way for busy families to get a jump start on vacation planning, take advantage of some big discounts—and have some low cost family fun at the show.
Saturday, January 22, 2011 is Kids Day at AAA Great Vacations EXPO. This popular day for families is loaded with fun activities for the kids—and lots of vacation planning tips, savings opportunities and fun prize registrations and giveaway opportunities for parents. Explore the exotic animals from The Farm at Walnut Creek. At 1 p.m., The Farm at Walnut Creek, located in Ohio's Amish Country, is set to exhibit some of its unique animals. Even a baby giraffe is scheduled to appear.
Meet live animals with Hocking Hills Naturalist Patrick Quackenbush. If you have not had the opportunity to experience a live tour in the Hocking Hills with Mr. Quackenbush, parents and kids alike will be in for a treat. A wonderful presenter and narrator, he’ll be bringing reptiles for a show at noon—and will visit the Great Outdoor Adventure Area with birds of prey for a 2:30 showing.
Enter the Stick Horse Rodeo. Little “rodeo champs” can join the fun in the Marmon Valley Farm Stick Horse Rodeo at 2 p.m.
Try your hand at mining at the Ohio Caverns exhibit. Ohio Caverns lets guests try panning for real gemstones in an authentic, working mining sluice.
Do not forget The "Passport for Prizes! AAA Great Vacation EXPO guests pick up an EXPO Passport, check out the various visit attractions and exhibits throughout the EXPO, and have their passport stamped at the various spots. When finished earning stamps, guests may enter to win a Universal Orlando Resort family vacation.
