My friend Wayland B. wrote and quoted this rendition at a meeting about the Wizard of Oz designed for AA/NA members---
Dorothy lives in Kansas. She falls into a pig sty, gets into a tiff with the neighbor lady, and hooks up with a man three times her age. Her life has become unmanageable. Disappointing her Mom, she gets caught up in a Tornado---(Note the Big Book states 'The alcoholic is like a tornados roaring his way through the lives of others" ((The Tornado Theme)), blacks out and does a geographical. (Big Book Alcoholics Anonymous pg. 82)
She kills someone with a falling house. Refusing to take responsibility, she is told to follow the Yellow Brick Road. As she goes along she meets up with four sketchy characters all men twice her age. After being told to SURRENDER DORTHY, they all black out in a field of POPPIES!
In the emerald rehab center, they get detoxed and are given an impossible task by a wizard with an enormous head. After being picked up by flying monkeys and imprisoned, Dorothy has another 'accident' wiping a second soul off the planet.
Her friends get sobriety chips. Dorothy almost hooks up again with the old guy, but God send a cat to help her escape. In the end she is told by Glinda, the Good Witch, that she had the tools to recovery the whole time; that she just had to learn how to surrender and accept her life as it is. Dorothy uses the tools to return to Kansas to live a sober life.
