Missing childhood? Have children (and need something to entertain them with)? Tonight Cal Poly's Theater and Dance Departments are putting on "A Year with Frog and Toad" for opening night. The small, five-person cast has big shoes to fill with this age-old loved story, but are sure to break a leg!
As advertised by the Facebook group, the A Year with Frog and Toad performance is "based on the beloved children's books by Arnold Lobel, A Year with Frog & Toad celebrates friendship as the duo journey through the seasons. With a jazzy score & plenty of fun, this children's musical will have families tapping their toes & singing along!"
To publicize the fun-filled event, part of the cast went down to the local Barnes and Noble a couple weeks ago to read during "Saturday Story Time". Thanks to this public event, lots of children showed up at last night's pre-screening, and are sure to show up over the next few shows.
There will be many interactive pieces in the show including Lily pads on the floor for children to sit on and a website created by Cal Poly students. The exciting and fun website includes colouring pages for a colouring contest that will be judged at the event, connect the dots, and even a cookie recipe from Frog and Toad themselves!
Designed originally for children, this performance is sure to be a great hit for the whole family. Although opening night starts a bit later at 8pm, the following dates include earlier hours, just in time to get the kids to bed after a great bedtime story!
