Dolores Levine hails from a musical family. She grew up in Sacramento, California where she remembers as a young girl sitting in the front row while her father and his friends performed Mexican music onstage. In her home, music from all over the world was played, and Dolores' love of world music grew. She and her brother David learned to play guitar, she from Stuart Waisthall and David from Gordon Waithall. Dolores performed in a variety of musicals, choirs, glee clubs, and for private occasions. When she was 17, she learned to speak Swahilli. In her 20s she performed in as part of the musical duo, Take Two. Performing jazz standards around different venues in Sacramento, it wasn't until her Grandmother passed away that she felt the desire to perform in Spanish. She studied voice in Pasadena, California under Margaret Keane, and performed with some of the finest mariachi and salsa musicicans from 1995-2006. She earned a degree in Spanish, and formed Acustica with local musicians here on the coast of OregonAcustica was conceived by Dolores Levine, a multi-lingual vocalist, to bring world music to the local community. Dolores has brought together a fine group of musicians who form Acustica World Music.
