A writer has been hired to adapt 'Shadow of the Colossus'

According to THR today, Seth Lochhead (“Hanna”) has been hired by Sony Pictures to pen the adaptation of the video game “Shadow of the Colossus.”

The film will be directed by Josh Trank (“Chronicle”), and is about a young man who thinks his lover has died, and desperate to bring her back, he makes a deal with a demon resurrect her - but only if he kills 16 giant creatures known as Colossi first.

A character driven, but action oriented, screenwriter like Lochhead seems like a perfect fit for this type of material, and Trank has already proved himself capable of directing a pretty cool action flick on a cheap budget.

This is the first of many video game adaptations heading our way, and if the studio treats it right, and the stars align, it will make a fortune leading to even more.
