Galatians 5:22-23 (NLT)
But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!
September 11, 2001 will be marked in the history of America forever. It was the day that a foreign enemy had the audacity to enter our homeland and attack from within shattering the confidence of many residents and destroying the lives of countless people. The image forever etched in my mind, I remember the helplessness I felt as the second tower crumbled to the ground knowing people were dying inside its fiery floors and massive structure. I could do nothing but watch in horror wondering if my own family was safe at school and work. There was a breach in security. No one would ever think that an opposing country or force would consider it possible to attack such a great country with a vast army but they did. This attack was personal, and profoundly religious. Each man involved did not consider themselves a terrorist but following their god sadly misguided in their belief. God loved those men. Jesus died for them. They rejected the Lord plunging to death and judgment that day. Each thought they had a stake much greater than death. Although their act is heinous, one cannot help but consider their commitment. They would die for their faith gladly even though radically wrong. The enemy won the battle that day, but he will not win the war.
The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. This is the harvest that God is after in those who are called by His Name. Fruit cultivated from a willing heart and committed soul. We are in the end times – I am convinced. September 11th was a warning to our country that there are enemies who are willing to invade our borders working to steal, kill and destroy the American Dream. We won’t have it. We have reinforced our borders now monitoring closely who comes and goes. If you have any doubt, just try to get on an airplane. It is a harrowing process. However, it is time for the Harvesters to reinforce their borders as well. God has promised us a harvest in exchange for righteous obedience. His Promises are true. They are unchangeable and certain for those who by faith choose to believe. The enemy is not happy with the harvesters. He is attacking the faithful, productive Christians with crushing pressure and powerful oppression. Why? If he cannot have your harvest, then he is intent on destroying it. Those men that were involved in the horrible acts of 9/11 knew they could not take out the entire country but strategically chose a famous destination where news coverage would quickly pick up the news. What were they trying to do? Produce fear, doubt and worry! Like the enemy, they were intent on stealing, killing and destroying our Christian nation and shatter our belief in Almighty God. Well, it didn’t happen but it did set the stage for the next great revival. So as we prepare for a harvest like no other, this is a warning for the harvesters!
John 10:10 (NLT)
The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
We are racing to the finish line of faith. The enemy is desperate to take as many souls with him to hell as he can. Why? If he can’t have the harvest, he doesn’t want anyone else to either especially Jesus Christ. The devil and Jesus are opposing forces. The devil wants to steal your faith, kill your hope and destroy all confidence you have in right standing with God. He wants to separate you from Him at all costs. Jesus Christ came to give you a rich and satisfying life. Not feeling it lately, well join the rest of the committed believers in the Body of Christ. The scandal of grace that has led many Christians into a middle-of-the-road mentality with a gray area lifestyle is probably the greatest deception of the enemy yet. You cannot reside between both sides sitting comfortably on the fence between good and evil. You must pick a side. If you are not battling the enemy in your life right now, you better check your position because those who serve the Lord are fighting for their harvest.
Hosea 10:12 (NLT)
I said, ‘Plant the good seeds of righteousness and you will harvest a crop of love. Plow up the hard ground of your hearts for now is the time to seek the LORD that he may come and shower righteousness upon you.’
Righteous obedience to God produces a harvest every time. God wants to bless you and when you get into His Presence remaining in close proximity to the Lord by faith, it just happens. I cannot even begin to list the blessing and promises that occur every single day in my life or how hard the enemy tries to invade my mind, soul and body to have what the Lord produces. God promised a harvest in exchange for obedience, commitment, faithfulness to our love affair with Christ. (Deuteronomy 28:1-14; Leviticus 26:3-8) If you have never taken time to look at the blessings of obedience, you might want to check them out. Can you imagine being blessed in every single area of your life? What if EVERYTHING you put your hand to prospered? Well, if you strive to seek the Kingdom of God above all things not only is this possible, but totally probable. This gets the enemy’s attention who now seeks to steal, kill and destroy the harvest God is producing in your life. It is valuable and he must have it. So he is ruthless in his attack against you, your family and life.
Matthew 9:36-38 (NLT)
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”
When 9/11 was over, the church flourished. People called on the Lord once more for a little while anyway, then the economy started shaking distracting God’s People once again. Confused and helpless they ran off to seek relief and recovery. As Babylon begins to fall, the world does not know what to do because there treasure is solely things that will rot and decay rather than secure in Heaven. So as it was then, so it is now. The harvest is ready but the workers are few. Churches still have people that manage to come every Sunday but can barely keep their doors open or feed their own staff because the tithe has dried up with obedience. The benevolence funds are now empty because no one is reaping so the church is starving. The harvest is still great. The Lord of the Harvest is calling His People back to the field. Only then will the provision, promises and blessings begin to flow in your life. You must continue to produce the fruit of the Spirit although the enemy is steadily pursing you. Remember, the Lord prepares a feast in the midst of your enemies as His Goodness and Unfailing Love pursue you as well.
Matthew 13:38-40 (NLT)
The field is the world, and the good seed represents the people of the Kingdom. The weeds are the people who belong to the evil one. The enemy who planted the weeds among the wheat is the devil. The harvest is the end of the world and the harvesters are the angels. Just as the weeds are sorted out and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the world.
The enemy is in our midst. He is planting weeds in our harvest. Stop worrying about the weeds and focus on what matters to God. The Lord wants us to live a life of love that produces a harvest of souls. This will manifest a crop of love in your life that opens the Windows of Heaven so His Blessing will pour out into your lap. You are a harvester. The enemy is trying to invade your fields. Will you run or will you fight for what God has promised you?
Matthew 17:20 (NLT)
“You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”
Hebrews 11:6 (NLT)
And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.
The difference between the possible and impossible is faith. From beginning to end our life is defined by the amount of faith we have in God believing in Jesus Christ, His Son. We acquire righteousness by faith. The enemy wants to destroy your faith at all costs. He will stop at nothing to cause you to doubt the Lord. He is ruthless in his attempts. As a harvester, you must be diligent in protecting your faith and producing more.
Romans 5:3-5 (NLT)
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
Hebrews 6:18-19 (NLT)
So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.
Faith is the assurance that the things we hope for will actually happen. Hope is essential to every harvest even in the natural. The farmer plants his seed hoping it will grow but he cannot see what is happening inside the ground so he waits. It is during the “wait” times of life that the human mind wanders and wonders. Fear lurks in the shadow ready to overtake unsuspecting hope but that is not you. Your hope is secure in the Lord and unmovable due to the firm foundation of faith that it is deeply rooted in. The enemy wants to kill your hope. Those who choose to live in the Presence of God will find that their faith and hope are protected.
Philippians 3:8-9 (NLT)
Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him. I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ. For God’s way of making us right with himself depends on faith.
Matthew 6:19-20 (NLT)
“Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.”
Uncompromisingly righteous is the term God is looking for to best describe His People. He wants His Children to build their home in Heaven even as foreigners on the earth. Everything invested in His Kingdom will yield a return even while we are still on the earth. The Fruit of the Spirit produces the kind of harvest that God will protect. Every act of obedience moves God to bless us. As we inch closer in righteousness striving to live in the example of Jesus Christ, His Promises meet us in that place. You are a harvester. The enemy is after your crop. What are you doing to protect that which God has given you? What are you doing to make sure that dreams become a reality in your life? All things are possible for those who believe. Do you believe? As harvesters, it is time to head for the fields.
Galatians 6:7-9 (NLT)
Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
It is time for all you harvesters to rise up and head for the fields. The abundance of Christ awaits those who live by faith. Confident hope has indeed produced a harvest waiting for you to take in. If you don’t, the enemy will steal, kill and destroy it where it stands. Righteousness is the only way to benefit from the real harvests in life. Live to please the Spirit of God and you will harvest everlasting life. Do not get tired of doing good! You will reap a harvest of blessing if you don’t give up!
James 5:7-8 (NLT)
Dear brothers and sisters, be patient as you wait for the Lord’s return. Consider the farmers who patiently wait for the rains in the fall and in the spring. They eagerly look for the valuable harvest to ripen. You, too, must be patient. Take courage, for the coming of the Lord is
