A weekend of events in Orange County

Events, festivals, outdoor activities and entertainment are usual past times in Orange County, and this weekend May 16 - 18 everyone can find something to explore and enjoy.

1. One of the special places for residents and visitors alike is in the Pacific Ocean where the beginning of the largest marine park, just outside Newport Harbor and Laguna Beach, can be found. This is a favorite spot for the 'annual giant Blue Whale migration' which brings hundreds of Blue Whales to the waters along our coastline each spring and summer.

Join one of Newport Landing's 2.5 hours whale watching cruises, that depart daily to see the whales that are now in the ocean off our shores. 2,. This Saturday, and every Saturday morning, in Irvine car enthusiast gather to kick tires while having a cup of coffee. The event is free, so come on out and enjoy the gathering of cars and motorcycles from exotics, to classics, to hot rods, these awesome cars show up each week at 7905 Gateway, Irvine.

3. Enjoy a night of great Jazz, May 16, 7 p.m. at 5211 Lakeview Ave, Yorba Linda, Calif; Phone (714) 701-0987. This is not ony a night to enjoy Esperanza High School's award-winning Jazz bands, and Bernardo Yorba Middle School jazz band, but also the guest artist trumpeter, Chuck Findley, who has performed on hundreds of hit records and was the lead trumpeter on the 'Tonight Show bands under Doc Severinsen. This is also a excellent way to support the arts in our schools.

4. The Irvine Spectrum Center, 71 Fortune Drive, Irvine has been presenting "Circus Vargas" every night, except Tuesday, at 7:30 p.m, since May 1. May 19 is your last chance to enjoy this circus of magic, mysticism, acrobatics and comedy routines. Get your tickets now for the most mind-blowing spectacular ever. 5. May 17 - 18, The Lightwire Theater presents a pair of classic tales - The Ugly Duckling and the Tortoise and the Hare. This unique performance, part theater, part dance, is sure to thrill theater goers. Tickets start at $20 and can be purchased online.
