A sporty, low-slung car that gives you an eco-friendly rating after each drive? A gas-electric hybrid that focuses on handling and is rated for just 34 miles per gallon? A two-seat hatchback that starts above $19,000?
The 2011 Honda CR-Z certainly combines a diverse collection of traits. Honda says it has uniquely married fuel economy and driving enjoyment at affordable prices. Skeptics have said the CR-Z tries to be fun and fuel-efficient and doesn't do well at either.
Which is the case? The undeniably unique CR-Z is spending a week with the Autos Examiner to find out.
The trip computer so far reads 41 miles per gallon. That's a good start. But the CR-Z needs more than 41 mpg to win over someone who will buy a two-seat sporty hatchback over a competing performance car or over a hybrid that emphasizes greater practicality and fuel economy.
Does it have that? Impressions are now emerging; check back for detailed updates over the coming days.
