A crazy story hit the news on Feb. 5 regarding a Walmart shopping cart DUI. One just never knows what they will see happen at the giant retailer, and this time it involved a Florida man named Timothy Carr who was arrested for driving a motorized shopping cart while drunk. Huffington Post shared the details.
Carr is a transient who was at a Brooksville, Fla. store Sunday night when he allegedly took an alcoholic beverage off a shelf, drank it, and caused a ruckus as he drove the motorized cart around the store. The Walmart shopping cart DUI happened after police were called and Carr said he didn't have money to pay for the items he knocked off shelves or the alcohol he drank. He was charged for disorderly intoxication and retail theft. This one will be a felony, because he has been arrested two times previously for retail theft.
This is one of those stories that combines a bit of sad with a dose of humorous. It is certainly not every day you see a Walmart shopping cart DUI, though many shoppers of the chain would say it's good to be prepared for just about anything when stepping foot inside the store.
