A Walk to Support St. Jude Hospital

St. Jude Give Thanks Walk will be on Saturday, Nov 17th at 8 a.m. The walk will be held at Jacksonville University and there is no charge for the event. Participants will enjoy great food, entertainment and prizes. The walk will bring hope to the patients and families who walk through the doors of St. Jude everyday.

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital opened on February 4, 1962 and was founded by the late Danny Thomas. It's mission is to find cures for children with cancer and other diseases through research and treatment. No family pays St. Jude for anything.

St. Jude has ranked the number one pediatric cancer care hospital in the country, based on the magazine's survey of more than 75 childrens hospitals nationwide. St. Jude has developed protocols that have pushed overall survival rates for childhood cancers from less than 20 percent when the hospital opened in 1962 to 80 percent today.

This year is St. Jude 50th anniversary. The founder Danny Thomas believed that no child should die in the dawn of life. Its cost $1.8 million a day to operate the hospital and public donations provide more than 75 percent of the funding. The St. Jude Give Thanks Walk will help save a precious life.
