If you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, the suburbs can often provide temporary sanctuary. It's true that many city dwellers often relocate to the suburbs when planning on raising a family, or just to slow down their pace a little. And then there are some - those who've lived in the suburbs all their lives- who crave to be in the city! Life is always greener on the other side...
Across, but not too far from the island of Montreal, is another island: Laval. Life is much more tranquil on that side. Although it's considered a modern up and-coming city, most of the areas and municipalities that make up Laval are pure suburban paradises.
Well manicured lawns and gorgeous homes are de rigeur in some of these new 'hot spot' living areas. Everything seems to be picture perfect and catering to those who crave peace and greener space (yet not too far from Montreal; where many still travel to for work).
Laval is quite special in its beauty in that it's much more than just a cluster of pretty white-picket- fenced homes. Nature abounds in Laval! Because it's surrounded by water, you often feel like you're in the country with all the advantages of the city- a real two-for-one!
Waterfront homes reign in Laval and the water views are absolutely breathtaking. I took a walk in the town of Ste-Dorothee this week and soaked up the sun and the stillness. Everything was quiet. A quiet that reminds how satisfying it is to just breathe and be. Suburbia may be overrated for some. But when peace and tranquility mix with sunny splendor; it's no wonder many love to call Laval home.
