Valentine’s Day, that day of the year when you celebrate the one you love. Many of you will get together with your romantic partner for a nice dinner. Some of you will by your partner a nice gift to show how much you love them. As you are thinking of your partner, most of you will need to get to them. As some of you will drive your car or take a cab, there are those among you who will be taking the train.
Some of you have the opportunity to ride the train together, but some of you have to wait at home or at the station for your partner to arrive. For those who have the opportunity to wait at the station, you stand on the platform anticipating the arrival of the train. The display sign says that the train is arriving soon. You hear the horn. You get very exciting. Looking down the track you see the light. The train is arriving. You step back as the train pulls up, and it stops. The door slides open, and people step off. You are looking for that one person to step off, and you watch as they walk out onto the platform. You run to them and hug them tight, and you kiss making this Valentine’s Day complete.
It was a Valentine’s Day made possible by the railroad. On behalf of all of those who write for the Examiner whether on staff or as a contributor, we all wish you Happy Valentine’s Day, and for those who are single, may your love train one day arrive.
