Usually reviewers visit a restaurant several times before developing an opinion worth publishing. However, the VALENTINE’S DAY SEAFOOD LOVERS SPECIAL at the The Blue Crab Restaurant and Grill is such a fantastic deal we could not resist letting you know about it. This celebration of lover’s day is being held in this restaurant found in the Shops of Suburban Plaza on Suburban Drive off of Elkton Road in Newark, Delaware.
The restaurant has a coral display in an aquarium found in the middle of modern French tables and booths. The shopping center façade is totally misleading. This is an upbeat exquisite medium priced restaurant with an “under the sea” décor. The bar is in a corner in the back with a neon sign over top to direct Valentine’s Day celebrators if it turns out you would like to enjoy one another’s company and chat after the Valentine’s Day celebration.

The regular menu for this restaurant includes seafood dishes from all over the world: Mahi mahi from the South Pacific, catfish from the Great Lakes region, Fra Diablo from Italian recipes, Old Bay Seasoning with a definite Maryland background, and French specialties including mussels and scallops. They have quite a selection of soups full of seafood and served in huge portions.
If you already have plans for Valentine’s Day consider this restaurant’s February 26th schedule:
They are having a Moonshine Martinis and Listening to Grass Roots musical evening. Oysters on the half shell will cost $.50 a piece. A band called the “Jersey Corn Pickers Dreamweaver” will be performing. They have a special menu planned just for countrified folks
The Blue Crab Griil has a special list of beers that they recommend for seafood. If you are not an expert at beers, but recognize how suitable they are with seafood feasts let this restaurant give you some recommendations. At the top of their list they offer Rogue Santa’s Private Reserve. You just might find one of your own favorites already on their gourmet beer list, we did.
