Who hasn't heard about the Twilight series of vampire romance novels? Many San Jose readers are avid fans of the books and the recent movie adaptations. The San Jose Library system even has a Vampires Reading List for teenagers. While Edward and the other vampires in the book don't eat food, Jacob, Bella and the other characters do, and a Twilight tea party, with vampire-themed food, would be a really fun event to give for your friends!
In the books, Edward and his family are very discreet about their vampire identities, so rather than making everything covered in gore like a slasher movie, why not be a bit more subtle in your menu and decorations? Go with the more Victorian Gothic look, mysterious and spooky, but still elegant. Have candles on the table and white twinkle lights above it. Serve your tea in goblets, if you have them, and drape the table in luxurious tablecloths. Keep the colors of the decorations and food within the black/gray, and blue/purple range, with red and white as the only bright colors. Make sure to have at least one bright red apple on the table!

There is a Twilight cooking blog, and even a cookbook, to give you more food ideas. Watching the movie provides the perfect occasion for a Twilight tea party, or rather high tea, because you'll want to start the party at twilight, of course! Twilight, otherwise known as dusk, or sundown, happens at different times depending on the season. You could have your party just before heading out to the theater to see the movie, or you could read out loud from the books and see the movie at home. It will be an event that Bella, Jacob and even Edward would want to attend! For more tea party ideas, click here.

Lovely work Elizabeth. I'm going to check out some of your links for my own Twilight tea party.
Thanks for the compliment, Margaret. I'm still working on putting together and photographing a table setting for this tea, so I'll be updating the photo illustration in a week or so. This has been an interesting theme to research, but I can see a lot of people having a ton of fun with it. It would be the perfect thing to do just before seeing the movie, with everyone dressed up to resemble the movie's characters.
