A tropical lemon ginger breeze, perhaps?

Perhaps they could have named it tropical lemon ginger breeze. That is just one possible name of a delicious drink that is a fresh blend of raw juices that includes cucumber, apple, ginger root, and lemon.

Robek’s juice bar, creates this blend, which they simply call “cool cucumber,” but it is definitely a healthy and well-balanced blend that far exceeds its name in flavor. It has a tropical kick of lemon and ginger that is more than an accent.

You might not have thought to try this combination of flavors, but one taste might convince you that it is a great choice. If you have them toss in a 3-4 inch chunk of celery, this drink will really sing with flavor and get a booster shot of additional healthy sodium and electrolytes that our bodies need.

Even if you don’t like celery, you might be pleasantly surprised to find that you like it in this drink, so don’t be afraid to try it and receive the additional nourishment.

On the tail end of winter, it is a great time to re-vitalize and replenish our bodies, that by now, are craving sunshine. This tasty drink is a bit of food-aid that defies the season of flu, virus and sinusitis. It is an immune-boosting combination, rich in vitamin C, and loaded with hydrating electrolytes, vital minerals and a lot of flavor.

Each of the ingredients in this drink contain electrolytes, but lemon juice is a super source of electrolytes, ginger is an anti-viral, apple juice is loaded with anti-oxidants, cucumber juice flushes out toxins and has vitamin K which even plays a role in treating Alzheimer’s.

With an abundance of choices in our modern world, we might get caught up in a bit of food confusion, and forget that food is sustenance and nourishment, not merely to be enjoyed. The right foods, well prepared have the potential to get you into good health, or keep you in good health.

Satisfying food does not have to be a bag o’ donuts, or a sample platter of the heaviest fried foods. It does not have to be a challenge to our digestion, or an addition to our waistline. Good food can also be a tall, fresh, raw, mineral-rich, re-vitalizing drink.

You don’t even have to think about how much of this or that to add to make a carefully balanced blend of juices because at a great juice bar they have done all the work for you. If you need a little winter pick-me-up, stop by Robek’s in North Olmsted and try this cool cucumber with a zesty tropical accent.
