A tribute to all fallen law enforcement officers in America!

When a law enforcement officer is killed in the line of duty, the public in that community feel extremely vulnerable, because one of their protectors is no longer there to protect and serve. Lee County, Mississippi citizens have felt this emotion several times since the late 1980s.

The 2013 Christmas season has been a very sad time for the family and friends of a Lee County, Mississippi law enforcement officer. Tupelo Police Department, Sergeant, Kevin "Gale" Stauffer was killed by gunfire on Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, when he and another Tupelo officer, Joseph Maher, responded to a bank robbery in Tupelo. Maher was critically wounded in the shooting.

This writer, who has served over 28 years in law enforcement, feels the pain of these officers' family and friends, as well as the grief and anger of fellow officers who must carry on without a comrade they depended on. This tragic loss of Sergeant Stauffer, and wounding of officer Maher has been on this writer's mind since the shootings, and the fact that I am no longer in law enforcement, and can't help in the apprehension of the killer/killer's, caused me to seek another avenue of support. After much deliberation, I penned the following memorial to this officer, and all officers, both male and female who have given their precious lives for America. Please feel free to share.

One of Saint Michael's Knights Has Fallen Today

One of Saint Michael's faithful knights fell today, and this passing brings sorrow and sadness our way.
The knight wasn't a saint, but was a protector of all, and now all that's left for his family, is his picture on a wall.

The knight, whose sword was the gun that he wore, is mounted in a case, to be worn no more.
The shield that he carried, and was pinned to his chest, gleamed as a symbol of one of America's best.

The knight's steed was not of flesh and of bone, but was made of metal, that faithfully bore him along.
His knight's armor was not that of hardened steel, but was made of synthetic fiber from a weaver's mill.

The knight had his court, but not as of yesteryear, but of lawyers and judges in this age appear. His enemies were vast and each filled with sin, but through the knight's power, they were all reigned in, except for the ones, that through deceit and crime, brought an end to the gallant knight of our time.

But alas, he did not die in pity or shame, but with courage and honor, valor and fame The knight's death will not be forgotten, nor ignored, for his fellow knights will even the score. Justice shall be served on this earth down below, while the knight's precious star in heaven, is forever aglow.

Please fell free to share with everyone, and please send this article to his family! God Bless!
