From Thanksgiving through New Year's Eve (and Day), we are provided reminders of the importance of giving. Through our gifts, presents, and presence, the winter holiday season is a highlight of the kind of impact of being unselfish and steward-driven with our time and talents can be, and how it can transform an audience and ultimately, a community.
As he has done throughout his time as an educator, poet, artisan, and minister, Tavares Stephens' work provides a sound, steady, and sure example of the aforementioned areas of concern. This Saturday, December 7th at 7pm, Stephens, in conjunction with eLife Productions and She'DA Enterprises, Inc., are presenting the holiday and Spirit-themed event "An Evening of Ascension and Giving".
Taking place at the Salt and Light Truth Center, the event provides an extraordinary backdrop and experience that is worship-based and Spirit-infused. With selections ranging from gospel, poetry, spoken word, and straightforward conversation that is thought, action, and peace-provoking, the evening promises to encourage and uplift all in attendance.
Keisha Pooler, a contributor to An Anthology of Sisterhood (which is under consideration for a nomination for an NAACP Image Award), is one of the special guest poets and artists who are a part of the evening's program. Fran Beakfield and Niecy Wells (the publishers of An Anthology of Sisterhood), Jason Sylvain, Elece Turnipseed, Felisha D Hardy, Keasha Copeland, and Kris Goodall Music are among those who are scheduled to be a part of the experience.
Tickets for the December 7th event are available online.
Being moved, motivated, and encouraged to be good stewards is always a timely message, not only during the current holiday season, but at all times. This Saturday, be prepared to give and ascend and make your community and world a better place thanks to the sincere stewardship of Tavares Stephens.
