You almost have to think that the ABC series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is the ultimate no brainer moment in network history. It's following up a movie in The Avengers that made a billion plus dollars in theaters. You have Clark Gregg returning as Agent Coulson and a good group of cast members alongside him. Added in with the fact that Joss Whedon is involved in the series while still working on The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and you got a series that's got heightened interest, mixed in with potentially high ratings. It's in a prime spot on ABC's lineup at 8 pm Tuesday night, so what could go wrong? Oddly enough, the jury is still out on the series.
Which is shocking that the jury is still out on the show. ABC has put the full promotional force out on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., I've seen commercials everywhere. If this by some unknown reason manages to fail, I'll be absolutely shocked. In looking over the bits that have leaked from the premiere of the pilot at San Diego Comic-Con this does follow directly after The Avengers. Which will give any member in the audience a nice entry point into Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D from the start. While there may be some that may not go along initially, this will be one of the biggest series on ABC by the end of the year without a doubt. If there is a great network deity out there, this will be huge.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has all the tools to be the biggest series out there that no one can touch. In my own case I want this to be the biggest hit in ABC history so that this will encourage ABC to grow this into a bigger TV Marvel Universe alongside of the movie universe. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will only be the beginning as far as I'm concerned. Television won't know what's hitting it before it's too late, and TV will be all the better when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. hits.
September 24, 2013 can't get here soon enough.
