A Texan Set Loose in Mexico

Cuernavaca, Mexico is known as the “City of Eternal Spring” for its gorgeous weather. It is located about an hour south of Mexico City. In this beautiful city is a Spanish language school called Instituto Chac-Mool that has a money back guarantee for its students.

The school opened its doors in 1996 and has continued to grow ever since. People from all over the world come here to study the Spanish language and learn about the history and culture of Mexico. The school is a gated community. It has different programs for adults, teens and families, and students can stay for weeks at a time. One of the programsl has Spanish classes in the mornings and activities during the afternoons, evenings and weekends to help the students practice their Spanish and experience a taste of the culture. Students are encouraged to sign up to live with Mexican families to further enhance their education. In researching Spanish immersion schools, Instituto Chac-Mool was the only one I found with a money back guarantee. The school officials assure students that if they are active participants in the classes and activities they will learn Spanish.

For the next four weeks, I will be living with a Mexican family and attending classes here. I will chronicle my discoveries, successes and mishaps here as I navigate the Spanish language and culture. I hope you will join me for what is sure to be an exciting adventure!

Sounds like fun, Chris! I have never heard of this money back guarantee. Must be an effective program.

    Buena suerte!

Laura, I've been here four days now and I can't believe how much I'm learning! I'm still not comfortable speaking much, but I'm constructing sentences in my head and then trying them out with my teachers and my host family. Hopefully next week I'll brave it and speak more. But no matter what I already feel it has been an invaluable experience. (And I still have 24 more days!)
