Atlanta blues fans love to give. I hope you're already planning to attend the Benefit for Carlos Capote and his family today at Blind Willie's if you can.
Now, there's another tasty way to give to a great cause connected to the blues on Valentine's Day! DBA Barbecue in Atlanta is giving 20% of all sales to the Sean Costello Memorial Fund for Bi-Polar Research on February 14. DBA Barbecue is a casual neighborhood restaurant and bar in Virginia Highland, at the corner of North Highland and Amsterdam.
The Sean Costello Memorial Fund for Bi-Polar Research was established following the death of popular and immensely talented Atlanta blues musician Sean Costello, who died on April 15, 2008, on the eve of his 29th birthday. Sean suffered fromĀ Bipolar Disorder. The fund 's mission statement states:
"The purpose of The Sean Costello Memorial Fund for Bipolar Research is to apply Sean's celebrity and the love of Sean's fans and fellow musicians to increase research for treatment of Bipolar Disorder, develop and support education for early diagnosis and intervention, and translate the human side of bipolar disorder and its severity to improve outcomes and resources, especially for those without insurance, targeting the musical community."
Now is your chance to remember Sean and help the fund, all by just coming out with your sweetie (or being your own Valentine) and having some great barbeque at DBA! Giving doesn't get much easier than that, does it?
