Italian trattoria-style restaurant invites guests to enjoy a unique social dining experience with customized food and wine pairings.

On Thursday, August 28, 2014, Francesca’s Amici (174 N. York Road, Elmhurst) invites guests to celebrate the annual “Taste of Piedmont,” an educational wine and dine experience exploring the Piedmont region of Italy. Known as a wine lover’s paradise, Corporate Executive Chef Massimo Salatino transports guests through a five-course meal while Corporate Wine Ambassador Joe Fiely gives a glimpse into Piedmont’s wine production with varietals such as Barolo and Barbera.

Taste of Piedmont features the following special wine paired menu:

First Course:

Insalata di Aragosta - Boston bib lettuce with red grape tomatoes, fennel, fresh orange, grapefruit and lobster tossed in zesty orange vinaigrette

2013 Demarie Roero Arneis

Second Course:

Polenta Fritte e Figgi con Prosciutto - Fried polenta crouton with caramelized figs, fresh goat cheese and crispy prosciutto

2011 Batasiolo Barbera D’Alba

Third Course:

Cannelloni alla Piedmontese - Homemade cannelloni stuffed with wild mushrooms and ricotta cheese, topped with a rustic tomato sauce and baked Piedmont-style

2012 Marchesi di Gresy Nebbiolo

Fourth Course:

Brasato al Barolo con Patate - Braised beef short ribs with carrots, celery, onions in a Barolo sauce and a twice baked potato

2009 Boroli Barolo

Fifth Course:

Fragole e Rabarbaro al Forno con Gelato - Sliced strawberries and rhubarb topped with a brown sugar oat crumble and topped with vanilla gelato
