**For more great food from America's party state, Nevada, go to the Facebook page called A Taste of Nevada**
The Silver State of Nevada is truly one of the most gorgeous geographical places on the face of the earth. Whether it be the unbelievable beauty of the Nordic lake known as Tahoe, the high desert of the Reno area or the low desert landscape of southern Nevada, the gateway to the southwest, the magic of Nevada is alive and well. There is probably no state in America with such a colorful history and as you will now learn from this new series by internationally renown chef and bestselling cookbook author, Larry Edwards, there is no state which can match Nevada for fresh, healthy and downright delicious food. So, whether you're sunning on the shores of Lake Tahoe, revisiting the west at Virginia City, enjoying "the biggest little city in the world," marveling at the beauty of the capital city of Carson City, playing in Las Vegas or frolicking in fabulous Fernley -- a taste of Nevada is only a fork away!
The fact of the matter is, many times pizza can be boring. Big deal, you plop some crust on the counter, form it into a circle, splatter some sauce on it and then scatter some cheese. Wow, how original! Okay, it is better than throwing one of those frozen chemical pizzas in the oven.
Here in Nevada we don't like boring and even worse, we never eat boring. This pizza is as far from boring as possible and even better, it is all homemade (except the cheese, though if you have cows you can make that too). To truly experience the incredible taste of this pizza you will need to use the Casa BBQ Sauce but have no fear, you can find the recipe and pictures for that sauce here.
When it comes to pizza, the crust (dough) can make all the difference in the world. Since we are known for our pizzas, we are also known for our crust (dough). You can find the recipe and pictures to make the same dough we use here.
You will not be using a boring tomato sauce for this pizza, you will be using the Casa BBQ Sauce. Don't be stingy with the sauce.
There is no real recipe for what you want to put on top of this pizza but for the best flavors you will want to add some Mexican green onions (also known as Asian green onions and they can be found in most markets). A healthy does of freshly minced garlic is also very important. For the cheese we don't use Mozzarella, we prefer a peppered Monterey Jack cheese, as it has the perfect flavor and melts quite well.
I fully realize you do not have a pizza oven in your house. No problem! For a home oven, you will want to pre-heat your oven to 500 degrees. Place the pizza in the oven and bake it 12 - 15 minutes.
The new cookbook from Chef Larry Edwards is now available from Amazon.com and bookstores worldwide. One of the most anticipated cookbooks of the year, "Edwardian Cooking: Inspired by Downton Abbey's Elegant Meals."
