The Silver State of Nevada is truly one of the most gorgeous geographical places on the face of the earth. Whether it be the unbelievable beauty of the Nordic lake known as Tahoe, the high desert of the Reno area or the low desert landscape of southern Nevada, the gateway to the southwest, the magic of Nevada is alive and well. There is probably no state in America with such a colorful history and as you will now learn from this new series by internationally renown chef and bestselling cookbook author, Larry Edwards, there is no state which can match Nevada for fresh, healthy and downright delicious food. So, whether you're sunning on the shores of Lake Tahoe, revisiting the west at Virginia City, enjoying "the biggest little city in the world," marveling at the beauty of the capital city of Carson City, playing in Las Vegas or frolicking in fabulous Fernley -- a taste of Nevada is only a fork away!

There may be a few other states who can boast about their sauces, dry rubs and ways they grill -- but only Nevada can boast about the fact we will damn near grill anything! We're grilling rebels. It must have something to do with the fact that the old west is still alive in the Silver State and we live it every day.

The combination of Kahlua and pork is one which was made in culinary heaven. Nothing quite beats sinking your teeth into a tender piece of country style pork ribs which are glazed with the sweet spiciness of this this marinade. This is a very simple dish to prepare and you can either cook them under the broiler or plop them on the grill.

Ingredients needed to make Kahlua Grilled Ribs (serves 4):

  • 1/2 cup Kahlua
  • 1 Tbs. brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 4 slabs country style pork ribs


  1. In a small bowl whisk together the all the ingredients, except the pork ribs.
  2. Rubs the mixture over both sides of the ribs, cover with plastic wrap and chill 1 hour.
  3. Pre-heat your broiler or grill.
  4. Remove the ribs and place them on a broiling pan.
  5. Place in the broiler or the grill and cook about 9 minutes per side (or until your desired doneness).
  6. Remove from the broiler and let cool slightly before serving.
