A Taste of Minnesota runs from Thursday, July 3rd through Sunday, July 6th. Hours are 11:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. each day. If arriving before 3:00 p.m., admission is free. After 3:00 p.m., there is a $10.00 charge, but $5.00 in food/beverage tickets are included.

This year, because of flooding at Harriet Island, A Taste of Minnesota has been relocated to the Carver County Fairgrounds in Waconia, Minnesota. Click HERE for a map.

Although A Taste of Minnesota event provides just as many unhealthy food options as the Minnesota State Fair, there are a select few relatively healthier options available:

Granite City Food & Brewery offers two healthier options: Vegetarian Asian Salad Wrap and Caprese Salad
The Shrimp Shack offers two healthier options: Grilled Shrimp on a Stick and Shrimp Cocktail
El Burrito Mercado offers fresh Mango
All Star Catering offers roasted corn
• Regarding beverages: Skip the soda and root bear floats and opt for bottled water which is available at many locations throughout the event

Here are a few tricks to help refrain from overindulging:

• Eat a healthy meal beforehand
• Bring some bottles of water with you
• Decide ahead of time what you will and will not eat
• Put yourself on a budget and purchase only a limited number of tickets
• Get some exercise by walking around the entire event several times
• Get additional exercise by dancing while listening to one of the many scheduled bands
