Dallas’ first 11 days of February averaged about 15 degrees below normal thanks to an amplified jet stream pattern. This scenario is replaced by a big burst of spring-like weather for Valentine’s Day weekend, so you might say we will have a sweetheart of a forecast!
The steering wind flow will become due west-to-east and this favors a downsloping, warming air mass. It also favors gusty southerly winds at the surface so fire danger will increase as these winds develop.
Unfortunately conditions will remain quite dry through at least Feb. 19th, but at least it will be very comfortable in the temperature department.
