A successful flirtatious moment is all about style, says report

Take a flirtatious moment to learn about your style.  If your dating life is not meeting your expectations, have a look at what Psychology Today has to say.

It turns out that particular styles of flirting are associated with different dating and relationship outcomes. A study published in the October issue of Communication Quarterly surveyed more than 5,000 dating adults about the ways people communicate romantic interest. The authors, Jeffrey Hall and Steve Carter, identified five styles of flirting.

  • One style is the Traditional flirt. Traditional flirts think men should make the first move.
  • People with a Playful flirting style seem to enjoy the game.
  • The Physical flirting style communicates sexual interest.
  • Polite flirting features nonsexual communication and proper manners.
  • Finally, there's the Sincere style of flirting. Men and women both advocate this style, but women are more likely to use it. What's Your Flirting Style?‎ - Psychology Today (blog)

Combine your style with expert advice

For more on flirting, you may also wish to read what Julia Spira suggests. It seems to me that she would be in favor of the sincere style given her advice for those seeking a match online.

To get some first-hand advice for readers looking for love, I talked with Julie Spira recently. She is listed by the Fast Company in the Top 100 Most Influential People in Social Media in their November 1st, 2010 issue. It seems that this LA Dating Advice Examiner is sprinkling her magic dust to make love happen.    Here is one of her quick tips:

“Be authentic. With over 500 million members on Facebook, if your online dating profile photo looks ten years younger than the party photos you’ve uploaded to Facebook, your date will realize you’re a fraud."
