A stunned Taylor Swift recovers with grace as she accepts Kanye West's apology

Taylor Swift was honored, by the 2009 Video Music Awards, as having the "Best Female Video," for her performance in "You Belong With Me." While giving her acceptance speech, Swift was blindsided by Kanye West, as he rushed onstage, grabbed the microphone from her hands and abruptly told her, "Taylor, I'm really happy for you, and I'm gonna let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time." The audience immediately began booing him and started to chant "Taylor," over and over again. The backlash for West's behavior came fast and furious, as stars such as Katy Perry and Pink denounced his actions on Twitter. Swift's mother also voiced her disapproval regarding the disruption to her daughter's acceptance speech, and Miley Cyrus told Jay Leno, that if  West had treated her that way, she would have told him that he was rude and disrespectful. 

Shortly after the incident, Taylor was interviewed on The View, and recounted her thoughts of excitement, when she realized that West had joined her, only to understand that he had come to diminish her instead of applaud her accomplishment. Swift very gracefully stated on the show, that she would be willing to meet with him. Shortly after her appearance on The View, a contrite West contacted the country singer and apologized for his actions. Swift graciously accepted.
