Granparents Day is Sunday, September 13. Here is a unique, special way to celebrate. The National Grandparents Pilgrimage will be celebrated on Saturday, September 26 at 11:00 a.m., and it will take place at the Cathedral of St. Ignatius Loyola in Palm Beach Gardens. There will be a Mass with Bishop Gerald M. Barbarito conducting the services. Catherine Wiley, who lives in Delray Beach, came up with the inspiration of a prayer for grandparents, and introduced the concept to the Vatican. Pope Benedict XVI approved of the idea, and wrote a prayer for grandparents. "We are deeply honored to receive the 'Prayer for Grandparents' composed by Our Holy Father, pope Benedict XVI", says Wiley. This prayer will be read during the celebration. After the Mass, there wil be a reception and display of photos. The Office of Marriage and Family Life has requested pastors and Catholic school principals to collect family pictures from parishioners.
