BOSTON - Grill 23 & Bar, which set off the explosion of steakhouse concepts across this city when it first opened in 1983 in the Back Bay, only serves lunch for 10 days a year - during the Christmas season in December from the 10th to the 23rd from noon to 1:30 p.m., weekdays.
The award winning restaurant is known for its naturally raised, cornfed Brandt beef, sustainable seafood and poultry.
Afficiandos know December is a special time for the restaurant and this year is no exception. The regular dinner menu is available along with a three course, $39 option of items from such starters as Berkshire pork chili with cornbread, fried calamari with tzatziki, fennel and onion or three cheese grilled flatbread.
New is an "Epic Pot Roast Sandwich" made with beef cheek confit, tobacco onions and pepperoncini crema. Other entree choices include bacon wrapped chicken skewers with broccoli and cheddar risotto and Jonah crabmeat cioppino. For dessert, choose between Manjari Chocolate Pave with orange confit and clove anglaise or John's Gingerbread Sundae with Toffee Sauce.
