Deadline learned yesterday of an interesting film that is getting started with Steven Shainberg (“Secretary”) directing.
“The Big Shoe,” written by Shainberg and Mickey Burnbaum, has been a few years in development attracting the attention of stars like Joaquin Phoenix and Mia Wasikowski, but the film is finally getting underway with a pretty solid cast.
Jim Sturgess (“Cloud Atlas”), Kristen Stewart (“Snow White and the Huntsman”), and my favorite Elizabeth Banks (“Zack and Miri Make a Porno”) have all joined the erotic comedy.
The film is said to combine foot fashion with fetishism (creepy), and will have Sturgess playing a gifted shoe designer pressured into mass producing his designs as knock-offs.
The family of Sturgess’ character hires a psychotherapist (Banks) to work with the shoe designer, and Stewart will play Sturgess’ muse, Delphi.
The only problem I foresee is Stewart’s inability to act, and that is a huge problem, but hopefully Banks, and all her charm and beauty, can make up for that.
